What does Ubuntu have that could be equivalent to "yum provides" or better yet, output a list of all files in a given package ... that is not installed and not even downloaded? I can get some amount of info for each available package using apt-get and aptitude, but there is no apparent means to get a list of all files.

One of the things I'd like to do with this data is build a correlation map between distributions that would answer questions like "what package for distribution X would give me all the files that package Y gives me in distribution Z?"
