Hello I have only had my Ubuntu for 3 weeks. When I try to udate my software either with the terminal or with the update manager files seem to download but I don't see them anywhere. This is the result of the command. sudo apt get

lawrence@lawrence-laptop:~$ sudo apt-get update

I am a little scared to upgrade from the terminal. I do not want to upgrade the Kernal as every thing is working fine. I am running 2.6.31-20

Thanks in advance. I have found these forums very helpful.

You're not upgrading, you just updated the upgrade list. To upgrade, type "sudo apt-get upgrade".

Thanks for you response. I understand that I am just updating the update list. I just thought it odd that I have not received any kind of update for over a week. This made me think that something was not working correctly.

I see. Sometimes there just aren't any updates :) It's normal.
