As good as EAC, meaning secure rip, there's Rubyripper that does a very good job. I've been using it for some time and feel happy about it.
No ubuntu package though; do a Google search, get the binaries or source and start testing it. I guess you'll like it.
:D
Cheers!

The thread this was attached to was over 5 years old. Let's let it be. :)

morituri (http://thomas.apestaart.org/log/?p=1040) is probably the closest one can get to exact audio copy.

Thanks! I hadn't heard of morituri before this.

Never seen that one either. I'll have to check it out.

My suggestion is Ruby Ripper. It's not _as_ good as EAC, but it's fairly accurate and has some decent ripping options. Grip is also half decent too, fairly complicated though.

Sound Konverter serves all my ripping needs quite nicely. I had problems getting EAC running in WINE last time I tried.

I'm very happy with abcde.

I use EAC in Wine because the site I frequent requires EAC logs for .flac's.
