I have Firefox 2.0.0.12. I downloaded the upgrade for Firefox. I extracted the files, how do i actually apply the upgrade?

P.s. I have Gutsy Gibbon

Just upgraded Firefox on Hardy. Whenever I mess with Firefox and I don't know what I'm doing - I look for posts by lovinglinux.

Hi Flynn, time to upgrade... support for Gutsy ended back in April 2009!

I would highly recommend installing the current Ubuntu release (9.10 Karmic Koala) or waiting a month for 10.04 Lucid Lynx.

To answer your specific question :) in the folder you extracted, there is simply a Firefox executable you can double-click to launch the new Firefox. You don't have to "install" it as such.
