Hi . I was just curious about the cost of technology around the world. I think the cost of a basic desktop , cost of basic broadband , cost of a minute of phone call should be good enough indicators.
my country is India
Cost of Desktop : Rs 10000 = $200
Cost of broadband Rs 500 (Avg 2 Gb usage , 1 month) = $10
Cost of call : Rs 0.60 for a minute = $0.01

For the UK:

Basic desktop: £400 = US$600
Month's broadband: £17 = US$25
Cost of a call:
(Landline) about 10p + 1-6p/minute = 15¢ + 1.5-9¢/minute
(Mobile) £25 (US$37) a month will get you about 300 mins and unlimited texts.

Well, can you please define "basic desktop" because i find the word quite vague.
Lets define a basic desktop to........... maybe singlecore computer at "runable" speed, which would be a tad higher than Intel Atom? Dedicated GFX does is not much to care about? Monitor and keyboard and mice included in the price? And not too dated?

Ok, i think it runs down to:
*Desktop 2000-3000kr = 200-300E = 320-500$
*Broadband = 200kr(20£/32$) for about halv a megabyte down and 100kb uploading. If you live more centralized you can get 10/10 for the same price. I somewhat on the mostly populated countryside, so the offer sucks.
*Call = I think it was 0.60kr(0.06£)) or 0.40kr(0.04£) that is the cheapest(without being a scam)

The cost of all this technology is a stressful lifestyle spending more time working longer hours to make more money so we can buy more time saving technological devices.

In Louisiana (United States):
Unlimited calls/text/web/tv/gps/etc cell phone (2 lines): ~ $120
12MB Up/1MB Down Internet with Digital Cable: ~ $100
Basic dual core system DIY: ~ $300 - $500 (I buy Apple so the prices are on their website)
40" HDTV (for a computer monitor, you see): ~ $600
Having it all work: Priceless.
