Hey Guys,
Need some urgent HELP!! My system was running Vista and Ubuntu on separate partitions and all of a sudden my system crashed today. The sucky part is that my CD drive doesn't work either. So my only option is to make a bootable USB and use that to load an OS. I am hoping to find a way to use my USB and make it bootable with Ubuntu so that I can use it to reformat my machine and load Ubuntu. Any advice.. Need some Urgent HELP

Your CD drive doesn't work?? That could simply be a problem with the button...
Try to access a terminal on your computer and type "eject" without quotes into it. If that does not work, you need software from the internet to make a bootable USB drive.

I dropped my laptop and caused the cd drive to break. I tried making a bootable USB by downloading Ubuntu 9.04 image from the website and then using the Unetbootin but I am not able to boot my laptop. Do you know any procedure on how to ? My system doesn't go beyond the initial HP logo screen. I will need to format it but I am trying to boot up with Ubuntu and then format.

Hmmmm I would suggest opening Wubi using WINE because it is a .exe file, but considering your situation I would reccommend some links... Read them and let me know if you have questions.
