Feeling guilty about leaving your computer turned on when you're away? Join http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/index.jsp (http://http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/index.jsp) and put your unused cycles to work solving problems for researchers.

The World Community Grid has a Linux client you can install. When you're not busy, the client works on computing solutions for researchers trying to cure cancer, Dengue fever, AIDS, Muscular Dystrophy, childhood cancer, etc, or produce nutritious rice, clean energy etc. There is an Ubuntu Linux team that you can join when you become part of the grid, or maybe you'd prefer to join an alumni or nation club-- it's up to you. The computing time you're not using can benefit the world. You can choose the projects to which you donate your cycles. Please give it a try.

Hi dragos! ^_^

(I'll stop this in a minute lol)

But yeah WCG is cool, you might also like Boinc and Folding @ home :)

BOINC is my fave but for some reason I'm not using it atm o.O

Is this safe?

No. it's quite revolutionary. But as far as computer safety, I believe it's safe, but I have no proof.

Is this safe?

It's run by IBM.

Our World Community Grid initiative utilizes grid computing technology to harness the tremendous power of idle computers to perform specific computations related to critical research around complex biological, environmental and health-related issues. The current projects include Help Fight Childhood Cancer, Clean Energy, and Nutritious Rice for the World, FightAIDS@Home, Help Conquer Cancer, AfricanClimate@Home, and a genomics initiative and research on Dengue Fever.

Indeed, and maybe tomorrow when I'll get up I'll blog about it and help spread the word even more. :D
