Hi,

I have just installed ubuntu on my system, and am trying to compile a program from source, but keep getting the following error "Get libpcap from http://www.tcpdump.org or try --with-libs,includes=DIR".

I have tried to install the library with apt-get, ALL packages with pcap in their name in synaptic, and compiled the library from the source on their website and the program still isn't happy. This program is happy on other *nix systems, so it seems to be ubuntu's fault. Anyone got any ideas?

Many thanks!

Hi evilHamster, I'm in the beginning of config. I'm not able to use the sudo get install command because (possibly) change in location. I've been at this for hours. I found INSTALL file in snort rules.
I have screen shots but looks like I need photo bucket etc to post em here.
