Hi,

I am new to Ubuntu linux distro. I had touch time installing other linux distros on my compaq v6000 laptop. I plan to install ubuntu 9.10 on this laptop. Has anyone installed this version (32 or 64 bit) on v6000?

Thanks and Regards
Ujjwal

Hi and welcome to the forums,

The only issues that seem to have been flagged up is that of the broadcom wireless adapter and the touch-pad being offset.

Boot using the LiveCD in 'Try without altering my Computer' mode and check that both are working.

Enabling the wi-fi is quite easy, the touch-pad may present a problem as the work-around was to use a mouse, but that was in 8.04 - the author reports it works in 9.10

There is a sub-area in these forums for Wireless where you can get help if you have problems getting your WiFi to work --> http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=336

I understand your computer uses a broadcom WiFi adapter.

Welcome to Ubuntu!!

Thanks,

First I installed 32 bit version, it did not automatically detect my graphics card and wireless drivers. Then I installed amd64 bit version, it detected and I could install properly. All my function keys, sound etc work now :)

Cheers,
