Hello, I am looking for a game engine that will work on linux, is open source, and has very good graphical quality. something that is close to id tech 4, or better. also, when the drivers for opengl 4.0 are released, how would I incorporate it into the engine.

Thanks, your answers are much appreciated.

You would write a new render path for the game engine using OpenGL 4.0 and GLSL 4.00.

There is also Sauerbraten, but I don't know if it's up to id tech 4.

Blender3d
irrlicht

are the more popular ones. Blender3d is nice because blender is the mesh/animation program which most likely will be used for doing the modeling anyway.

And if you know what you're doing. You can make excellent looking games in Blender's engine.
