I have her targeted as a future linux user. What I am asking for, as a gift to her, is a shout out from Ubuntu users across the globe. If you would like, include your location, and even a greeting in your first language if it is not English. Photos of your village/city/country would be above and beyond the call. Thanks in advance my friends.

Get them while they're young, or they'll grow up to never appreciate Linux. They might even rebel and use... *gulp*... Windows.

You lived in an artist's rendering? Very Twilight Zone. Thanks, though, for the reply for my niece's birthday. I appreciate that. That goes for everyone who has responded so far.

Edit: I assume 生日快樂 is Happy Birthday in Chinese/Cantonese? Man, I wish I had the discipline to learn that language.

I think it does.

Yes it does :D

I'm kinda cheating because Chinese is not my more proficient language, but I like being special. Hm... I didn't realize it was an artist rendering haha, it matched my memories well enough.

That map... it's so... incomplete. It labels Monaco, but doesn't label Albania, Estonia, and other nations that are far larger. Also, it shows Russia colored in, but not its exclave, Kaliningrad Oblast.

Hmmmmm

I know, of course I noticed that. It annoyed me to, but it has the Czech Republic and Ireland on it.

Why are you complaining without providing a better map? It's quite difficult to find one that isn't really messy and yet contains all the country names.
The map I had first showed all the country names, but suggested that Latvia and Lithuania were one country, which I thought was worse than just leaving out names.

Oh, I see what it is. The map comes from a travel agency called Travel Impressions and shows the destinations offered by the company.

Grattis på födelsedagen, Stella, from Luleå in the northernmost parts of Sweden.

I'm afraid I couldn't find any nice pictures of this fair city, but I can show you how much snow there is in my back yard at the moment. I only just moved here, so I wouldn't know, but from what I hear, there usually isn't this much snow here.

Not a bad idea, if I had the knowledge and motivation. Someone, either me or one of the parents, will sit down with her and show her all the birthday wishes. I figured it is a good way to introduce to linux and the international community. And thanks for the additional responses since my last post.

Say, uncle, we gave you more than enough motivation, didn't we !
You asked for it, now finish it !
And yes, we want to see the end result. :P

What I am asking for, as a gift to her, is a shout out from Ubuntu users across the globe.
It's a lovely sentiment. Being from New York myself, living now in New Jersey, my photos are a little close to home, but I did snap a few the past month or so with all the snow we got. Biggest snow we've had in quite a while, and it is certainly the biggest thats fallen in this region within her lifetime.

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=3614&id=100000714252666&l=efe3d28886

These photos are part of a series documenting a housewarming gift my wife has completed for my good friend Al. My son James is seen shoveling while I take a break to snap the storm photos.

Happy 6th from New Jersey, Stella!

I admit I'm a little strange, but not that strange. The aging thing I may be capable of, but asking members to send greetings to a bottle of beer, too weird. :D
