hi,
i have Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop Edition in a cd. instead of downloading the ISO file of ubuntu, can't i copy and paste all the files in the cd to my pendrive then use a software to make it bootable?

If you can't download the ISO, you can create the ISO from the CD.

i've made an ISO file using Power ISO and extract it in my pendrive. but i can't boot from my pendrive even after configuring BOIS. Do i have to install another file or software to make my pendrive bootable?

yes you have to make it bootable. One solution is to use the Ubuntu Usb Creator. Under Windows it seems that you can use UNetBootIn.
