monitor offset by 10 or 15 pixels

I have a new installation of Karmic 9.10 up and running but for some reason my Nvida Quadro NVS 280 SD graphics card can not align my Sony SDM-HX73 monitor correctly. On the left I'm missing 10 or 15 pixels and on the right I have a thin black strip of unusable screen.

Anybody know what the cause is?

There should be a button on your monitor that automatically realigns that.

Yeah uRock! That did it.

I had tried various combos of all the monitor buttons before and the fact that the machine has been rebooted several times made me think the monitor's auto alignment feature would have been triggered by now. Well, it turns out that in the menu there is this strange little icon ->.<- that doesn't do much until you press the OK side button which did quickly auto align the monitor.

Soo glad I didn't start tinkering with xorg. ;)
