Update issue

I recently loaded the latest ubuntu 64bit on my amd quad, its a dual boot system on the same hard drive with windows and everything went fine. Its been about a week now and this morning I saw I had a pop up on the linux side saying important updates were ready to be downloaded so I did. WHen it finished it ask to restart and afterwards when I select the Ubuntu option during booting I get now " Minimal bash like editing is supported etc..". Then a promt for sh:grub> ?

Seems before the update when it came up to load windows or linux, it said Linux and then what version it was etc.. Now just shows Ubuntu and when I select it the above message ? Any ideas ?
