I'm helping the developer of AniGet (http://www.lazylabs.de/?page_id=7) open source his code. Problem is, I don't have a clue about this myself. Is there some guide out there, if not can someone help me help him?

One of the most comprehensive guides with regard to licensing and organizational issues is the Legal Issues Primer (http://www.softwarefreedom.org/resources/2008/foss-primer.html) put out by the Software Freedom Law Center.

From a broader standpoint, the original Project Management HOWTO (http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Software-Proj-Mgmt-HOWTO/index.html), though a bit long in the tooth, still provides a good overview and some very useful advice.
