I'm running some virtual machines with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS on VMware ESX, and I'm having problems with the latest kernel updates for 2.6.24.27. After installing these patches, I can still ping other servers by ip address but cannot resolve dns names any more. Also, I cannot start e.g. synaptic or firestarter from the system menu any longer. (It just happens nothing.) Firefox also cannot connect to websites, neither by name, nor by ip address.

When I reboot the system with the previous kernel 2.6.24.26, everything works fine again. Does anybody else have these problems?

Thanks,
Uwe
