Hello everybody, I had a problem with Windows rebooting so I decided to go back to Ubuntu. So I looked around the house and found my Good ol' red Ubuntu 7.04 32bit install cd.

So I used a Guided partition to use my entire 1TB hd (since this is going to be for programing and school). Install finished without a problem how ever when I try to upgrade to the latest and greatest distro using the upgrade manager I get this error

Could not download all repository indexes

The repository might be no longer available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and the correct writing of the repository address in the preferences.

I tried using my newer yellow (7.10 64-bit) but nothing would show up and it would say that the system is up-to-date, so after changing the sources.list file it still wouldn't upgrade so I went back to the red cd in hopes that this forum could help. Thank you for anyone who helps me out in advanced.

We are up to 9.10 so yours will not run and is no longer supported. Go for the upgrde, much better

I have no other way to upgrade right now, there isn't anyway at all?

I can't find any blank CD-Rs or (its a waste of space but) DVD-R

I could use my phone but I have my SD card partitioned so I can't make it bootable.

Money is a problem as well.

As mentioned above, go for the latest version (9.10) as support for 7.04 ended back in 2008.

If you don't have a blank CD, you can use a spare USB thumb drive and Unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net).

Good luck!
