I have several computers using various Linux distros, two of which are Ubuntu 9.10 and the above mentioned PCLinuxos .However for the last 4 days I have been unable to access the site.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks in advance.

Not much help, but I just tried their site and it came right up. I'm in Florida, U.S.

I assume you're talking about pclinuxos.com (http://pclinuxos.com), right? Well, it's definitely up, because I just looked.

You say you can't "access the site". What exactly do you mean? Precisely what happens when you try? Do you get some sort of "server unavailable" message? Or just a blank screen? Something else?

Try pinging the site. Open a terminal and type in:

ping -c 5 http://pclinuxos.com

Paste the output here.

I'm in the UK, currently using T-mobile for internet service, and I can get the pclinuxos.com site. If the OP posts his ISP, maybe another customer can verify whether it's an ISP issue. Otherwise: are there any other sites you can't get?

The ip address of pclinuxos.com is 199.231.58.82. What happens if you put that in the url field of your browser rather than http://pclinuxos.com? Sorry, these are kind of blind stabs at the problem.

I guess you could try going through a web proxy service like www.daveproxy.co.uk (http://www.daveproxy.co.uk). I just tried, and I was able to reach pclinuxos.com by going through the proxy. If you can reach pclinuxos.com by going through www.daveproxy.co.uk (http://www.daveproxy.co.uk), that probably means it's something to do with your ISP. But if it doesn't work... Well, does that mean it's down to your computer somehow? I suppose it does... but I don't know what it could be...

EDIT: You're going to try Opera? Well, the browser is another factor in the chain that you can alter. But I suggest trying the proxy first, to see if you can be sure it's not the ISP. That's where I think the problem rests (though I'm certainly no expert!).

You could call your ISP to see if they can tell you anything. It would be best if it would just work the right way. If not, you may have to use a proxy, like t0p said.

The PCLOS website isn't working for me as well. My ISP is Be. Possibly a connection issue for Be/o2 customers since they're essentially the same company.
