down grading from 10.04

I upgraded from ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04. I was wondering if there was a way to downgrade back to 9.10 without wiping the hd. 10.04 has to many problumes right now

There is no downgrade- you must do a clean install of whatever version you wish to use.

The other thing to note that Lucid 10.04 is in alpha stage and should not be used on a machine as the main OS. It is meant for testing purposes only. This means you can expect breakage, problems and the like.
