I just built a computer with this optical drive

LG Black 8X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 5X DVD-RAM 6X BD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 8X Blu-ray Burner - Bulk Model WH08LS20K - OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136175&cm_re=blue_ray_dvd-_-27-136-175-_-Product

I'm trying to install ubuntu 9.10 on it, but when it comes time to detect and mount the cd-rom drive. It says "No common CD-ROM drive was detected". I tried using the solution on this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=964904, but when i type modprobe ide-scsi into the console it says Module ide_scsi not found. Any suggestions to fix this?
