Alright I have used Ubuntu before, i had it on my desktop as the only operating system for 5 months, but i cannot understand how to fix this small problem i am having.
I recently got a Gateway nv79 with the core i3 processor in it and wanted to try ubuntu on it.
I installed using wubi and it went just fine, rebooted, selected ubuntu, and then the screen just goes blank. Any help would be greatly aprecciated.

Also, when i booted up into backtrack 4 i got an error when trying to go into GUI mode that said something along the lines of "cannot detect monitor"

so yeah i don't know if that helps at all.

I believe what you have is a problem with your graphics card, if the laptop came with nVIDIA or ATI you need to intall the drivers for it, you need to put more information about the hardware of your computer.

the problem is fixed with the 10.4 release.
