Hi,

I was wondering if gnome3 is stable yet and if it would work on ubuntu karmic i have been looking for a ppa for it but haven't found one yet.I have seen a lot of videos about it and i like the way it looks and act's.Gnome3 is going to be ubuntu 10.04 isn't it?Thanks

For part of your question, Gnome3 is not going to be in 10.04. I have tried Gnome3 and I personally don't find it stable enough to use on a daily basis. You can test it by installing from synaptic. I believe you look up "Gnome Shell". Once installed you have to type something into terminal to activate it but I can't remember what. Maybe someone can come along and help.

You can "test drive" Gnome3 on a per session basis by installing and running

gnome-shell --replace

I haven't fully wrapped my head around it yet and as such of course I don't like it.
So far windows just disappear to nowhere when you minimize them -
you have to go to "Activities" or Alt+Tab to get them back.
