So basically, I booted up Ubuntu earlier tonight and tried to install it with my ATI graphics card in, and it didn't work. Basically, all the "non-graphical" (i.e. the startup logo, and basic selection screens for boot or install work, but anything beyond that such as login or desktop doesn't work) The screen will occasionally show a flicky, broken up screen but will then go black again after a second. The light on my monitor is still blue indicating that the monitor isn't on standby.

I am using an ATI Radeon 2600 PRO graphics card, and Ubuntu will boot fine and I am able to use it normally when I take out my graphics card and use the onboard graphics. I have also installed the ATI catalyst centre within Ubuntu using my onboard graphics, but as soon as I put my dedicated graphics card back in, it fails.

Help?

The latest, 9.10. I used the drivers downloaded from the ATI website.
