Hi,
I 'm using a laptop Sony Vaio with Intel Express Integrated graphic.
I was running Ubuntu 8.10, every thing was alright, I wanted to upgrade to Ubuntu karmic 9.10, so i had to upgrade to 9.04 first and the upgrade went successfully. In the first upgrade i kept the same kernel i was using before.
Then i run the upgrade to 9.10, the upgrade went well, without asking me to change the kernel, when i restarted the system, first it was blocked with a black screen. I had to use an earlier kernel version so i could login. After logging in : I lost the sound, the mouse pad control, and i have a problem with the video card. What was wrong? I don't know. Any one has any Idea about this problem??

Thanks for taking the time to read this...

Upgrades often cause problems, it is very important to test in live-CD before.

First of all, save your data (/home ..) on an external drive.

Then try to boot on earlier kernels to see if there is one ok.

If not, reinstall Ubuntu9.04 (as it worked before), and put it back your saved /home to restore your settings.
