Last patch added a Purple Desktop, and Computer icon. You think they will replace the Folder icons before the final release?

Possible, though I like the orange folders as they are.

I'm liking where this is headed. I just wish the wallpaper'd change. I judged too fast before!

I think a full purple icon set would be good, personally. I like purple for desktop themes.

it seems like the obvious thing to do.

If you like purple this is the distro for you http://hannahmontana.sourceforge.net/Site/Home.html

Here are all the purple icons: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1QSDkzYY2vc/S5uTTloEr8I/AAAAAAAAAkQ/NGsCa7FS_s0/SS_webupd8%20-%20File%20Browser_012.png

It feels a bit weird to have all these colors... orange, purple, etc. We're gonna have a rainbow soon.

if they have purplified(?) that much already, it would be phenomenally stupid to leave any unchanged.

Purple is my favorite color, but that is not the distro for me.

Thanks for the link. The default theme is not about what I like, and don't like. It's about appealing to the masses. For anyone that says the default theme isn't important, because you can change it, they must not know a whole lot about human nature. Hana Montana Linux could be the best operating system every made, but no one would ever know this, because of the way it presents it's self. It just looks ridiculous.

hmmm.. I'm not into purple, but my main beef is that its a really dark purple. Feels saturated.

o_O Those are gonna be the new default icons?
They clash horribly with the yellowish window borders imo ...
Just like that orange blot in the new purple wallpaper.
And the new X button is a different orange altogether...

I'd rather they went with that reddish orange + shades of grey, rather than various shades of purple, cream, orange etc..
Or better yet, a theme with ONE saturated color, that the user can customize, and the rest grey, or neutral.

That screenshot feels somehow very dated.. Like a custom WinXP theme, or something...

I guess we'll see the final result soon enough ...

You could always use Humanity-Colors (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Humanity-Colors?content=117230) icon theme too.

Or give MagIcons (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/MagIcons?content=120508) a try.

Will Lucid be the first release where the user does'nt feel the need to change the default theme?

Depends on the user.

The purple is only present where there's a representation of the desktop (makes sense, since the default desktop is now purple). Everything else is staying orange/brown.

Nice thanks. I like the magicons theme.
Though this isn't about how a user can change the default theme easily, of course it's possible, and regularly done. I change it after a while even if I initially like it.
But I'm kind of surprised at how the new theme is turning out.. I thought it would be something more - I dunno, I guess sensible. It's not about purple either.. It could work on it's own I think, but with orange? And with that yellowish window background (whatever the gtk background is called)? That theme just looks weird to me..
