I'm going to re-install Ubuntu, and for my last setup, I used a portion of my 200GB hard drive for swap and "/", and my /home directory on an external 1TB hard drive. So far, after almost a year, this is working perfectly. When I re-install, what is the best method for re-using my old home partition? What exact steps should I take? Here's what I'm doing:

1. Backing up my files just in case.
2. In the installer, format my "/" partition again as EXT4 and continue using my old swap partition.
3. Select my /home partition, set it to be used as EXT4, make sure the "format" button is unchecked, and set it as /home.
4. Run the installer as usual for the rest of the time.

Is there an extra step for me to do? Am I doing something wrong? This worked fine for me last year, but if there's a better way of doing this I'd be glad to hear it! :D
