How to decide which virtualization platform to use

I want to run 4 instances of a Virtual Machine on a Dell Power Edge 7401 machine want to know which Virtualization platform will help is there any performance compatibility test some where so that I can understand it.

The two big apps to virtualize are Wmware and Virtual Box. I tested Virtual Box, i find a good choice if you have enough memory ram to shared.

Can you show me some guide where I can refer to and the host OS you used is Ubuntu or any other.

if you do not want too crazy, certainly virtualbox can do for you, but it depends on whether this should be the only server virtualization or do other (desktop)
