I'm in the market for a Desktop machine. I just need something basic. I dont have a desktop right now, so I cant salvage any parts. I've been using a netbook as a primary machine, and I've saved some money to get a new desktop station (furniture), and a computer.

I know how to build a computer, but I'm honestly not looking to do that. I run GNU/Linux exclusively and have for years.

Can anyone recommend a desktop computer with decent driver compatibility and such with Ubuntu? I'd really like something small and quiet, such as a SSD and/or no fans.

Computers are not built for Linux.

Recently bought this one, and everything worked great with ubuntu. I have another similar one bought last year from same place and it also works great. Only downside is they are BTX motherboards so would not be easy finding replacement if ever needed. And can't use the double slot video cards.

Are you in the USA? There is a lot of talk about System 76 and ZaReason here.

The ZaReason site even looks similar to Ubuntu...

Apart from System76, Zareason already mentioned in the thread, there's Dell too ..
Dell sells some desktops and laptops with Ubuntu preinstalled and they offer support too..

As I've been telling everyone who would listen, I got my ZaReason Desktop this week and I really like it :D

I've had good experiences with both System76 and Dell. System76's are obviously preloaded with Ubuntu by default, and even the Dell XPS 410 desktop I have (came with vista) worked perfectly as soon as I installed Ubuntu on it.
