So Ubuntu was recommended to me by a friend and I ordered the CD... been a nightmare ever since. I was working on installing Ubuntu and it crashed during the process.

If I turn on my comp with the CD in the drive I get to the Ubuntu screen with the options, "Try Ubuntu without any change to your computer, Install Ubuntu, Check CD for defects, Test memory, Boot from first hard disk".

Install Ubuntu without any change to your computer: Shows Ubuntu logo with orange bar going back and forth, eventually goes into DOS mode and says,

"Loading, please wait...
BusyBox v1.10.2 Ubuntu 1:1.10.2-1ubuntu6) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
(initramfs) [92.288024] ata1: SRST failed (errno=-16)"

Eventually the screen just goes black...
Same thing happens for every option I choose. At this point I just want it off my computer, how do I do that?

Thanks

If you, or a friend, have access to a computer with a CD burner installed, go to distrowatch.com, download and burn the GParted LiveCD, boot from that, and use it to remove all the partitions from your drive.
