Hi all,

First of all, I am very new to Linux and some of my questions may appear stupid but ok, I've to start somewhere.

My basic problem now is that I can not manage installing Ubuntu, Kubuntu or Xubuntu (I tried several versions of each) on my netbook. The specs of my netbook (Hercules EC-900) are as follow:

Intel Atom N270 1,6GHz processor
Intel 945GME graphics controller
512 MB DDR2 SODIMM Ram
2*73Gb partitions (FAT32 I suppose), one with Windows Xp, I reserved the other for Ubuntu.

From a USB cd-rom, I tried installing the distrib discussed above from within windows and booting from the cd. Starting up appears to be ok, but after the screen with the ubuntu logo (after reboot when I try installing from within Windows) and the progress bar, I always end up with first an ugly screen with waving colors and then a black screen. I tried waiting for several hours but nothing changes.

Make me thinking to a graphic card problem, but I don't know how to resolve it.
Help plzzzz.
