Has anyone noticed that there is a new Flight?

I'm currently on the torrent \\:D/
The Kubuntu one hasn't shown up yet, but I hope it will soon :)

Is dapper basicly just new packages? Or what :p

'cause like when MS release a new version it tends to 'appear' different... :p

Dapper is the next version of Ubuntu. When it reaches stability (sometime just after April) you will be able to upgrade to it as if it were a package by dist-upgrading.

When you upgrade, your computer will download a shedfull of files and other hoo-haa. It will reboot once or twice and then dump you back at your desktop. All your programs you installed in Breezy will still be there in Dapper.

Going from Breezy > Dapper is like going from Windows 2000 > Windows XP, except without the install CD (you can use a CD if you wish though).

Can't wait for Dapper \\:D/

Oh, btw, I should point out that the official release of Dapper might be postponed for another 6 weeks. Check out the Dapper section for more info. (quadruple emphasis on "might", as Mark is calling for a "community town meeting" on March 14 on IRC. Just don't know who the "community" part is).

I download i386 install and live torrents and start to seed them. Have about 10 mbit of free upload to share. :D And using Dapper, you are going to like it. :)

You should also look at this

I think the main improvement is in the graphical installer of .deb with the dependances

We could always use more seeders for the torrents....

I'll be glad to help seed, soon as I figure out why Flight 5 keeps excluding the OpenOffice updates and the usuall configuration.

Ah, Seems I found a visual bug already. =)

Each of these shots have bugs. I only have 1 floppy drive and 2 hard drives.

Thus far with Dapper I've had some visual problems -- things I think I can trace back to the nvidia driver and my particular card. I'm downloading 5 now, though. I like to tinker with those things.

I've already got Dapper Flight 4... so I just upgraded last night.
I hate the new theme that's being used (But that's for another thread)- Gentle works about ten times better for me.

That was my first impression with the new theme but I decided to run it awhile and see if it grows on me.

I like the theme except for the progess bar. I dont like the lines on it. I really liked the candy cane style on the original clear looks. Other then that I think its more user freindly then the brown theme. The orange does give it a fresh look.
I am downloading the live AMD64 CD to give it a spin.
From the screen shots I am impressed tho and do like the direction Dapper is going in.
Cheers,
Joey

I love the new theme. I wonder if anyone here can port the Flight5 theme to breezy.

I just installed Flight 5 for AMD64. It's nice and fast, and I was able to get MP3 playback working by installing the relevant gstreamer-0.10 plugins. DVD playback was a little more difficult; I had to install the build-essential and xine-ui packages (because TOTEM STILL SUCKS!) and then run this script:

/usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/examples/install-css.sh
Flash is no good, but I can live without that. I've also installed VLC, and that handles most of my movie files (except WMV9, but that's just porn).

Would you recommend I use the livecd of flight 5 or install?

Jucato

Maybe both? :D
The Live CD has the experimental Espresso install system to let you install from the Live CD (ala Knoppix/SimplyMEPIS). However, it's still not yet that stable. Use it if you want to help to test it out. :D
However, if you have decided this early that you will install Dapper (hopefully on a separate partition first) then perhaps you're better off downloading the install ISO.
