has been released. here's a phoronix article if anyone wants to read it:

opengl 3.3 was also released. 3.3 tries to backport a bunch of 4.0 features so that gl3 hardware can catch a glimpse of opengl 4.0.
no drivers support either 3.3 or 4.0 yet, but i suspect nvidia will put support in their drivers soon enough ;). opengl 4.0 requires a directx11 capable graphics card.

ps, sorry if this is the wrong forum. it seems to be the best place to post this though

I wonder when the first good OpenGL 4.0 book comes out, because many people said that all OpenGL 3.x books so far have been crappy for some good reason.

I wonder when we're going to start using voxel based octrees and photon mapping.

double floating point seems to be the biggest new feature and subroutines. I do game dev and I'm gonna stick with 3.3 because the number of opengl 4.0 capable gpus have a too small % out there.

I think the Radeon 5000 series has maybe 1%! Come on, they have been out there for like 4 months! :P:^o
