I used dialup with proxies and Opera for years. I could surf circles around a modern browser and high speed internet. Pages loaded quicker and back button instantly displayed pages.

The trend has been to let the website control the user's cache so they can milk advertisers. The result are the modern day browser is like slogging through mud. So we shell out a grand every two years upgrading the machine, and paying double to get that 4 megabit isp. With only nominal improvement to do exactly what a good browser should do.

So, what are the firefox tricks to give user control of their cache, while allowing scripting to be turned on?
