Back in 8.04 KDE 4 was quite unstable and unready for including in a release. So KDE 3.5.10 was used and Kubuntu 8.04 was not a LTS unlike Ubuntu and Xubuntu. ,
Now KDE 4 has reached a nice and stable state, and is fully customizable, aesthetic and low in resource consumption.
KDE 4.4x will be included in the upcoming Kubuntu 10.4 LTS release.
