I am looking to install linux to a friend of mine's old old laptop. The CD/DVD player does not work and the BIOS is old enough to not have USB as a boot option... Any suggestions?
Sorry to start a new thread but i could not figure out how to search for this problem.
Thanks

I can only think of booting over the network.
Does the laptop have a network adapter?

Have a look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation
There is "Installing without a cd" part.
If you have questions I will help. I have done this repeatedly at work.
