Hi,
I upgraded from jackalope to koala because i wanted the KDE desktop. When I upgraded through the software center, and everything was complete, it was still gnome. What did I do wrong, and how do I change it to KDE.

Try this:

then, if you want to get rid of Gnome, and keep just KDE:

http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purekde

or, you can do a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.10 (which features the KDE desktop):

You didn't do anything wrong. If you are using Gnome and you do the upgrade you will still use Gnome (or any other desktop environment you had on previous version).Upgrade doesn't change desktop it just get you newer software. If you want to install KDE type in terminal

sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

and if you want to remove Gnome and install KDE read this. (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purekde)
