Cannot run synaptic, software center or install deb files.

any time i try and run synaptic or software center it opens the window and immediately closes before i get any action.

.deb files, the same. i also cannot run the updates, or even check for updates. same outcome.

any ideas??

Applications > Accessories > Terminal

then copy and paste this command:


sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Then copy and paste any errors here.

not sure what it did, but it seems to be working fine.

thanks, as always. if it weren't for ubuntu forums, i'd have been forced to head into the treachery of windows again! haha.
