View Full Version : [ubuntu] Booting directly from an iso.

I've used Ubuntu for a couple of years now, and it is by far my favorite operating system.
Although, I am now reluctantly switching to Windows 7, due to lack of support for the Apple Airport Extreme.

My CD drives are incapable of recognizing the DVD that I burned of Windows 7.

My only other option now seems to be to boot directly from the Windows 7 iso that I have.

Could someone explain to me, if this is even possible, how to do this?

I am using Ubuntu 9.10.

dont think so.
to mount an .iso you will need a program. a program needs an os. and two os cant run at the same time.
i could be wrong though.
win 7 iso? how did you get it?

I've read some things about it, and it seems possible, just not easy.
It was torrented.

Call Microsoft tech support and ask for help with your legally-purchased Windows install CD. Software piracy is bad for the reputation of Linux users and we do not discuss it here on Ubuntu Forums. Ubuntu is open source software and you can download it legally and for free. :)

This guide doesn't work for me. Maybe I am doing something wrong?
I get a syntax error on the first step when I try to follow that guide.

Please follow snowpine's advice. This is an Ubuntu support forum, not Windows. This thread is closed
