View Full Version : [ubuntu] Stuck on splash/ wallpaper on initial installation

March 9th, 2010, 12:14 AM
Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to ubuntu, and I wanted to install it on my desktop, and so I used the Wubi installer and it seemed to work fine, installed right into my C:/ drive, and I rebooted into Ubuntu, and it went through the splash screen, the fading in and out ubuntu logo, and then it turned into the default wallpaper [where it usually goes through the installation], and got stuck there. nothing happened.
When I boot and try to install ubuntu from the disc, the same thing happens when clicking normal installation, and if I were to click the demo, it just gets stuck on the boot screen. The one with the moving line thing.
I know the disc is fine because it installed fine on my Laptop
it's an AMD 64 x2 +4400, and I tried the alternate installation, and it wouldn't even let me partition the HDD, but I'd much rather install right into my C:/ drive.
Thanks a lot. :o
