So I'm looking at getting a cheap Android and the Galaxy Spica seems the best option available in Thailand. The question is.. is it possible to get the Cyanogenmod running on it? I've googled but to no avail, and I do want to have that extra functionality. Of course in an ideal world I'd just get an N900 but I can't afford one :( Any ideas?

According to this Wiki page (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Unsupported_phones) Spica is not supported by the cyanogenmod project.

My guess is probably not.

From what I have seen in Xda-Developers.com and Cyanogenmod.com, each rooted rom has to be tailored to a very specific model of phone. In fact, they're even careful to differentiate between the HTC Magic 32A and HTC Magic 32B.

Cyanogen himself has separate roms for the MyTouch/G1 and for the Nexus One. So my guess is he'd have to create a separate rom for the Samsung Galaxy Spica, too.

That said, Cyanogen is not the only rom modder around. So someone else may create a rooted rom for the Spica.
