I believe GRUB has changed on Ubuntu recently and UNetBootIn no longer works, nor does Linux Live Loader etc.

It might do, however i've tried many times and had no luck getting it to boot.

Both UNetbootin and usb-creator work for me making usb start up disks with 9.10.
If your Ubuntu did not come with usb-creator try sudo apt-get install usb-creator.
Have you checked the MD5SUM of your iso?
