i am confused by the many different and changing login methods for the ubuntu related websites.

i will list some of the sites and the login methods as far as i understand them

https://launchpad.net/ (has own user database)

https://help.launchpad.net/ (uses launchpad account)

https://dev.launchpad.net/ (uses launchpad account)

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ (uses the launchpad account, not openid)

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ (different account from the first wiki, uses the launchpad account, not openid)

http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/ (has own user database, not launchpad, not openid)

http://status.qa.ubuntu.com/ (same user as brainstorm)

http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/ (same user as brainstorm)

http://blog.qa.ubuntu.com/ (same user as brainstorm)

http://mago.ubuntu.com/ (clicking on login redirects to launchpad, but does it use the launchpad account or the launchpad openid?)

http://ubuntuforums.org/ (has it's own user database, but now also linked with the launchpad account, not openid as far as i know)

https://login.ubuntu.com/ (uses the launchpad account, not openid, will provide a "single sign on" to all ubuntu related websites in the future)

i am confused. can someone please explain this mess or point me to a website which explains this. bonus points if you can point me to a rss feed which can keep me updated on the changes.

well i found out about the ubuntu single sign on here

http://blog.canonical.com/?p=330

as i understand the plan is to have https://login.ubuntu.com/ as a single sign on for everything ubuntu related. that means the brainstorm account will be merged to this account eventually.

for now https://login.ubuntu.com/ uses the launchpad account, but in the future it will stand on it's own.
