Cannot Upgrade Ubuntu 8.04 to 9.10

I have updated all of my packages in Update Manager and the option to upgrade to a newer OS does not come up. I ran apt-get upgrade, apt-get update, and apt-get dist-upgrade and I still have 8.04. Is anything wrong?

You are better off doing a fresh install. You can't get to 9.10 without upgrading to 9.04 first and there are always going to be problems when you upgrade through the manager. IMHO..:)

Ehhhh... I was afraid of that. I'm running low on CD's and I was getting pretty desperate. But thanks anyway
