GNU GRUB version 1.97~Beta 4 error

I think the pc updated, or at least that is the only thing I can figure. Anyhow, pc froze so I reboot system. I have dual setup, after choosing Ubuntu, I receive GNU GRUB version 1.97~Beta 4 error. I am also told to press TAB for further commands, but none of the commands seem to do anything.

Same deal, update manager prompted install updates & reboot but now Ubuntu doesn't boot (so have to use Windows to post this message....)

Let's get a better look at your setup & boot process. Boot the Ubuntu Live CD/USB. Choose "try ubuntu without any changes", when the desktop loads come back here and do the following:

1. Download the boot info script. There is a link in my signature.
2. Once downloaded move the boot info script to the desktop.
3. Open a terminal and run the command
sudo bash ~/Desktop/boot_info_script*.sh

This will create a RESULTS.txt file on the desktop. Paste the entire contents of that file back here. Once pasted highlight all text and click the # sign on the toolbar to place code tags around the text.

This link worked for me.
When I booted up Xubuntu, it would give me a command prompt but I couldn't do a boot command.
I went to this link (provided my bcbc) and then I could boot normally.

-This only worked because I had installed Xubuntu in Windows.

I have had a ubuntu box standing at my dads place, suddenly it stopped working and now I get the same GNU GRUB shell thingy when I boot.

I have downloaded the boot script and here is the result

I really hope you can help me get the computer to boot.... as you can see I have two rather large disks in a raid (mirrored) if it is not possible to "save" the linux installation is there a way I can at least recover the data on the raid?

Edit> Checked the SMART status on the boot drive, there seems to be two errors. "Reallocated sector count" and "Current pending sector count" could these errors be the reason I now have boot issues? can it be fixed?
