Help please. I just tried installing Ubuntu 9.10 using Wubi. The installation appeared to run smoothly. I installed to a second hard drive partition. The installation proceeded normally, telling me about all the great programs etc.

When it reached about 90% complete my monitor went blank. After about twenty minutes of hard drive activity the machine restarted. I chose the Ubuntu boot. Instead of the nice clutter free desktop I was promised, I got a command line that said "sh :grub >"

Should I uninstall and try it again??

Win7/3.4 ghz/2 hdd partitioned C&F/G&H. 9.10 installed on G:

Thanks for any help. My first shot at Linux :o

Update: I uninstalled/re-installed Ubuntu. Same results. Instead of a desktop I get the sh :grub> command line. I tried the command load_env, and got file not found. Did a reboot and got the same thing.

ANY ideas??

Thanks

This fixed it and should fix a lot of the posts I see here concerning 9.10.

All I had to do was replace the file specified and Ubuntu booted right up!!!
