Hello, I'm Hondajt. I'm a big forum junky. I'm a regular member on many computer hardware forums, and I love to learn. All my life I have been an intel junkie. Everything I have owned until this year has been MS, Windows and Intel.

Now for a new beginning. I have a couple old dell machines laying around I would like to format and turn into linux machines so I can learn the basics of Linux on machines I don't care about, lol.

I have Ubuntu installed on one of my machines currently. It's nice. I don't see why people seem to think these can't be a main OS? (at least the census I get from reading other non-linux-based forums).

My machine currently consists of:
Foxconn G31mxp-k (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186167)
Pentium 506 (http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL8J8)
Old IDE 30GB HDD
2x256mb DDR2 Ram

I would like to add my 9800GT so I can use my LCD Monitor instead of an old tiny crt.

Thanks for looking! I mostly just wanted this thread for reference, so if I have a question, people would know what components I have.

Welcome. Well depending on what problem u have, questions u ask well, here u will get all answer.
Start with the HOW TO's they are useful.
Remember linux isnt Ms Windows nor Mac.
Dont expect Windows exprience to be the same with linux.
Lastly never give up

Welcome. In addition to the How To articles, check out the stickies at the beginning of the forum. They are valuable for reference and education purposes.
