Hello all at Ubuntu,

My cd set has yet to arrive. But I'd like to know how to
procede with some basics.

In here, 2 repositories are shown. What is the procedure
to get the repositories installed?

Or are they a part of a synaptic or an apt-get upgrade?

As common as this is, there is little infortmation about it
in introductory texts I've seen.

So far I have only looked at what's on the live cd, but have not done an install... awaiting my shipment from
Shipit.

The excellent Ubuntuguide.org has a section on this here (http://www.ubuntuguide.org/#extrarepositories) which worked just fine for me.

And then eventually you read your way through the guide and find out that you could have done it in Synaptic by going through Settings(from memory)>Repositories and adding it there. Character building to use the command line though. obviously....

And if you are keen on the command line option but want to get an insight into what you are doing, linuxcommand.org (http://www.linuxcommand.org/) is the best primer I've come across.

As in RTEUG?

Read The Excellent Ubuntu Guide.

Used to be RTFM.

Ok. Well, I did not see anything about that in the FAQ.
