Hi all,

ive installed a theme from the gnome look website, in the usual way, by simply dragging the tar.gz file over the themes box. However, none of the themes i installed are showing up in the themes dialog box.

When i go the .themes folder on my home folder, the folders for the themes are all there.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try unpacking the tar.gz and dragging the theme itself to the themes window in System ->Preferences ->Appearance.

Click the Customize-button in the Themes-dialog. Most likely the themes you installed aren't complete theme sets (including GTK2 theme, Metacity theme and Icon theme) so they won't show inn the Themes dialog directly. When you click the Customize button you'll be able to select individual theme components separately and the themes you installed should show there.
