hi
my synaptic manager was showing me a total of 28000 packages out of which 1400 were installed .now yesterday i used another ubuntu cd 9.10 to install some packages .for that i added the cd as software source and clicked on reload button in synaptic package manager.now my system is showing me only 1440 packages (previosly it was 28000 however all were not installed) out of which it shows 1420 as installed but obselete and only 20 packages installed.so i want to what i have done and how can i undo these changes kindly help
i had asked the same question even before but i didnt got much responce

Which do you want to use as a source, the CD or Ubuntu's online repositories? As you noticed, the CD has far fewer packages that, unlike the repositories, are not updated. You can always go back into Software Sources and disable the CD.

Is there a reason that you want to use the cd as a source over the main server repository?

yes i dont have an internet connection and i try to download packages to cd s and download them from cd
