Ok, so I am really new to Ubuntu, well Linux for that matter, and I was wondering are all .deb files able to execute the installation process? Or do I have to go into permissions and check "Allow executing file as a program"? Any help would be appreciated. :P

A file with a .DEB extension will automatically be opened by the package manager when you double-click. It is not an executable file.

Oh ok. I see now. I had a file I wanted to install and it was a .deb file and it automatically installed after the download (after double-clicking it as well). :S
